Love Island UK 2019: Body Types

Love Island is a popular UK reality show that airs on ITV2. It is currently the most watched programme for adults aged 16-34 in the UK, across any channel. Glamorous singles are sent to a villa in Mallorca and the audience decide who stays and who goes. The show gives us the perfect opportunity to learn about Image Archetypes (Body Types) as the reality show contestants spend their days in swimmsuits and often stand next to each other. One of the best ways to determine person’s Image Archetype is by comparison to other body shapes and by seeing the body in a swimmsuit.

What are the Image Archetypes of the female contestants?
The classification is based on what I saw on TV; seeing the ladies in person would give me even greater insight into their Image Archetype.

  • Amber Gill - Romantic (a beautiful textbook example of the Romantic Image Archetype, i.e. pure Yin body type)

  • Amy Hart - Classic (balanced, pure Classic)

  • Arabella Chi - Flamboyant Natural (lots of models are Flamboyant Natural)

  • Belle Hassan - Soft Dramatic (a great example of Yang bone structure)

  • Francesca Allen - Soft Dramatic (a true diva, she chooses her clothes really well and often wears stunning Soft Dramatic accessories and jewellery)

  • Harley Brash - Ingenue (a textbook example)

  • Joanna Chimonides - Gamine Classic (more Gamine than Classic - think Preppy Tomboy)

  • Lucie Donlan - Soft Natural (an excellent textbook example of Soft Natural)

  • Maura Higgins - Theatrical Romantic (an excellent textbook example of Theatrical Romantic, a true femme fatale!)

  • Molly-Mae Hague - Gamine (Gamine with long hair, why not!)

  • Yewande Biala - Natural
